Life is short. If I think about how many potential years I have left on the planet, I start to wonder why I would spend most of it trading my time and skills for money. Money is important. But by the time I’m old and grey (assuming I make it that long!) I want to have given away the majority of my time and skills to people who need it. I always kick myself for underselling myself in freelance design projects. But to me the money isn’t reason I do it. If I money wasn’t an option I would still love designing & creating. I would add a lot more international travel to my plate. But generally I would do the same thing, but just for free for people.
Why not start that now? So I’m figuring out ways to make that ever-elusive dollar, while having time left in my day to work with and for people I like. Hopefully I get to the point that the very process of giving away services to people is what is generating the income we need to survive.
Stay tuned to see if I figure it out, and if you have any advice, let me know!
